Gaining – and maintaining – momentum

It’s been an exacting but extremely productive week for me. For those of you who follow me on facebook, you will have seen a strange and seemingly random post appear mentioning freelanced.com and big plans afoot. I don’t want to reveal too much at the moment as it’s still very early days, but my ambitions have certainly been gaining momentum. While this has left little time for me to update the next chapter of Cold Winds Blow (I’m really open to title suggestions by the way), I’ve certainly not stopped writing or researching – it’s just been along a different creative avenue.

When I consider the plans I have now, and how far they have come from first being hatched over a hasty coffee with an old friend, I find myself filled with ever more enthusiasm, determination to succeed and the sense that my project definitely has appeal. The few confidantes I have shared this project with certainly seem to agree and have definitely been enthused by my passion to see this through. I have had, and continue to receive, great support from friends and family; please keep you comments (good and bad) rolling in.

I can’t even say it’s early days, as this project has been over a year in the making, but it’s only in the last few weeks that I have begun to gather the momentum and self-belief that I can make something of this. As I’ve said, I don’t want to reveal too much as I have other people to approach on this and don’t wish to mislead anyone or risk closed channels before they’re even open, but I WILL reveal more as this progresses. Watch this space!

While I’ve been working hard both at my full-time job and on gathering the resources I need to see my plans through to fruition, the other half of KPLangers, my tireless partner Helen, has been making sure our well-oiled machine has kept running: I can’t thank you enough for your faith and support.  I’d also like to take a moment here to mention Modiphius and congratulate them on the announcement of their new title – Mutant: Year Zero, released in partnership with the Swedish games studio Free League Publishing. The game looks visually stunning, the trailer is evocative and the game itself is sure to be another award winning title from them. You can read the first two chapters of this inspiring rpg over at RPGNow or DriveThruRPG. I’d recommed you check out the pre-release starter bundle, as it seems too good to miss!

I’d like to close this brief and indistinct post with a thank you to everyone that replied to my advert over on freelanced.com. I was overwhelmed with the volume of response and am grateful for some of the advice I’ve received and faith I have had placed in me since. I’m more determined than ever to see this through and succeed. Thanks for reading 🙂 Please tell me your stories – have any of you been inspired to see something through recently or begun an undertaking to change your life?
